Thank you! I love my mac, but that guy from the Dodgeball© movie needs a kick in the nuts.
This video has suppressed my urge to do that…for now.
That was sweet! I’ve been waiting for someone to make a joke of those stupid ads.
Hmm…I don’t see the humor in this. It must be some PC kinda humor or something. Thanks for proving the point that Macs are better.
Cheers!
RE:Timothy>
Look who’s being defensive. And a Mac-lover who cannot take a joke — can it be? That’s not cooool! …
Goddamn, that’s a fantastic series. I LOVE it! And the guy from Dodgeball is really adorable, but he can definitely shove his Mac where the sun don’t shine.
Justin, you obviously don’t know what you’re talking about. Macs with intel chips work exactly the same as macs with PowerPC chips. It’s made no difference is how the software works.
Thank you. Stupid commercials, annoying Mac guy looks like a hobo, another string of ineffective commercials from Apple.
Apple’s total share of the world computing market: 2%
‘Nuff said =)
woot! pc users unite! plus now you can run windows on them wtf doesn’t that make these adds irrelevant?
I love macs, but hate the kid from dogeball in the adds….. te PC guy is very funny though.
These spoofs were kinda like watchin’ a Gates and Balmer porno, both have microsofties and have fucced most of the world. Ever try an apple? Taste GOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood!
Macs aren’t that great at playing games either. My PC could blow any Mac out of the water when it comes to gaming. It also runs all of my engineering programs that allow me to make lots of money.
I hate the commercial that compares itunes and iwhatever to the CLOCK that is on a PC. Apple does some smart things, but the marketing department for these commercials needs to be fired - if anything, the original commercials will convince more ppl to buy PC’s after Apple’s pathetic attempt to compare a Mac to a real computer.
Um, the guys at clefpalate did that joke like three weeks ago. It’s been on youtube for awhile. Funnier too.
Mac, PC, Mac, PC, who cares? If its got porno, then I can roll with it.
I loved the mac ads. Funny and perfect for hooking in the people that have never touched a computing device in their life. These ads are a great counterpoint to the mac ads.
btw: mac vs. pc = apples vs. oranges
..but we all know which one runs the world’s business and economy
I love my Powerbook but those ads are ridiculous. huzzah for BWE.
Finally! an ad that really explains how macs suck total bumbum! Because of those stupid mac ads, kids at my school are braging about macs! HAH! pssh. Did you know that Macs account for over 92.3% of all computer-related deaths, and 86.2% of those deaths are suicides?! Macs suck
Can we all at least agree that Alex Blagg sucks, and that reading his drivel is just as annoying and ponderous regardless of whether you’re doing it on a Mac or a PC?
Yes thats right…this video does clearly and plainly explain how macs suck….. you can suck a dick joshwa..
I hate those mac adds. They act like a PC can’t play music or videos, and that they’re are built for spreadsheets and piecharts, and that macs are built for “fun” stuff. They never seem to point out many video games these days don’t even run on macs. Aren’t those fun?
You loosers that have mac’s. you are idiots. PC’s will forever rule the world. Biotch
This is basicly why pcs are superior
mac: hi i’m a mac
pc: and i’m a pc
mac: hey nice shoes, where’d you get those?
pc: oh, the way i’m designed, i can easily go to stores and purchase upgrades to make me run faster and keep up with today’s fast-paced world
mac: really? how do you do that?
pc: it’s simple really, you see you just pull the old ones off and push the new ones on
mac: wow, i need so many tools to change my shoes people would be better off just getting a new, overpriced, version of me instead
pc: you mean you’ve never gotten new shoes?
mac: am i supposed to?
pc:…… what’s that smell?
Haha only 32 people like it enough to comment. That’s prolly because it sucks.
Oh yeah I went there.
-Allen
I personally use both.
Mac is easier to some people, but to others it is like alien technology. I’ve never had trouble getting a PC to do anything a MAC can do, though. And we all know that there are plenty of programs with no MAC version.
So which to use? Whichever you LIKE MORE!
Good one Goorf, next commercial?
Well said Joe, like I said apples and oranges.
I am convinced Mac users are like Confederate wannbees that still
think that they won the Civil war. Tired drivel. The ‘war’ that all the mac users talk about is the same war the Mac lost when Bill Gates stole the mouse for windows.. Mac is out classed in every respect.
Soon there will be Mac-aholic meetings to hide this denial.
Hi my name is Mike and I am a MAC -aholic
HI MIKE!
haha..theres another mac spoof commercial thats pretty funny, its on thatvideosite.com, i think its titled “this guy really hates macs” or something like that…give it a gander
awww Peg! I hate godam macs? why peg, why did you do this to me? and I thought you really cared!?
This is so true, the ads MAC is pushng right now act as if the PC isn’t capable of interacting with an iPOD, a camera, play music or videos, or even edit video. Which is the furthest thing from the truth.
So MAC is trying to misleed it’s prospective customers? Lame.
What’s the message in these ads? That Macs are fun toys for entertaining yourself and PCs are dull tools for people who actually use them for work? That Macs are for cool slacker kids and PCs are for boring adults who have to work for a living? Sounds like they’re just reinforcing the stereotypes that have kept people from buying Macs in the first place.
Macs are for computer users what AOL is for Internet users.
And the fun issue? Podcasts may be fun and all, but lets see Mac Dude run Half-Life, Unreal Tournament, Doom III, etc. I’m sure PC guy could create a nice pie chart on how many games run on PC versus how many run on Mac.
And now Macs are running Windows. Perhaps Mac Dude is realizing that if you want to play with the big boys, sometimes you have to put on a suit.
Those mac adds fail because everything the mac guy mentions the PC guy can do too. So basically while mac’s are meant for recreation (or so the add makes them out to be), they still can’t run anywhere near the amount of games I can on my PC. I can also use my PC for a host of business or school related activities as well. But if you like Macs thats fine, just dont become an elitist pretending they’re better.
I am a mac guy and I think these are very funny. Like most things PC they came out months later and have to emulate what Mac has done.
The only reason that you Mac haters are degrading Mac’s is due to the mere fact that you’ve never even SERIOUSLY tried to use a Mac. As you will intelligently concur, almost all humans fear change. We, as a species, are comfortable with what we know and understand. Give the Apple computer a serious chance, and I assure you that you’ll either switch or at least appreciate it for what it offers. Yes, there may be some software that hasn’t been developed to run on Mac’s, but that’s only because the software company either didn’t have the money to produce a Mac version or doesn’t know HOW TO DO SO.
Why do they allow comments? I’ve never read anything enlightening in the comments section, except pleas to stop comments. Mac vs. PC comments are so old, tired, and worn out I’m surprised you kids are still doing it. Computers are computers. Get over it.
Mac = 10% of the market
PC = 90% of the market
(approx.)
That is why companies don’t release Mac versions of their software.
Oh yea, Mac now uses an x86 architecture. Welcome to the real world, Mac.
But, the main reason I don’t use Macs: I can’t build my own… well, I can but not with ease. I can build a top-of-the-line pc with everything I could want for less than $600. Oh, but that doesn’t matter to Mac users, because they would rather pay $3,000 for the same machine that only works with with the over-priced crap that Mac sells them.
The real commercial clearly makes fun of your average person that buys a Dell, though (trial software and whatnot). I think that’s funny. Any person that is dumb enough to buy a Dell deserves to get made fun of by the Mac yuppies.
If you bought a Dell and like it, please don’t yell at me. Just admit that you paid way too much for XP Home, trial Office 2k3, a $30 motherboard with a $90 processor, $40 worth of RAM, and a $50 HD that will fail soon. I know you don’t care because you paid them an extra $340 for a $180 monitor and a warranty that is less than what comes with the OEM parts. But, after financing it through them, it only costs you $90 a month.
A pc is to a computer what Walmart is to shopping. Go for what you like.
PCs aren’t as bad as everyone is trying to make them out to be… it’s really flippin’ annoying. I’ve tried using a mac (My aunt used to own one) and I’m sorry but life is meaningless without a right click button.
I’m a gamer, so I’ll stick with my PC with Windows XP thanks very much
All that you have to do is ditch windows on the pc then do with linux
the Mac OS would be fine, just not the hardware
Too Funny…I guess if you can’t beat ‘em you can always threaten to shove an ipod up their @@s…kind of reminds me of how bush and cheney treat the 58% of america who didn’t vote for them…
“pc share of the virous market 99,9999999999. Macs 000000001 ☺”
Let me guess, you bought a MoPed instead of a car because you were scared of getting in a car accident.
I have never once had a virus on my pc, but that is because I know what I am doing.
Guess how easy it was to copy and paste your line into this box with my PC? Love the right mouse button.
You know what is funny? Right now I am burning a DVD that I imported over a device on my firewire port, while I am playing Doom 3 on my secondary monitor, all while I am typing this to you. And no, I didn’t spend more than $1,500 on my entire system. God, I hate this un-hip PC… I wish that I had spent more on it so I could act snobby and tell people I bought an Apple.
Sorry, I know this isn’t a chat room.
They should make a counter advertisement against the Mac. Thos Mac ads are very pompous and lame. PC’s can do everything Macs can do, but much better, easier, and more reliably… including graphic programs. If you want to be faced with limitations, and want to be incompatible with the world, then get a Mac.
Mac is whack.
Ummm…I’m a strong PC advocate, but you certainly can’t build a top-of-the-line PC for less than $600. That’s just crazy talk.
You wouldn’t even be able to buy the processor for that kind of money.
If you’re going to make comparisons between PC’s and MAC’s, at least make the comparisons realistic and believable. Otherwise, you just look like an idiot.
What!!!?? O.K… Maybe if you are buying an Intel Extreme processor you will spend that much. Don’t argue with me on this, I have built over 50 pc’s myself for people and trust me, I know what I am talking about. You probably haven’t ever built a computer if you think a processor costs that much, or you have been getting ripped off.
So, just to make you look like an idiot, go to Newegg.com and look up a Pentium D or Core Duo processor of your liking, match it with a motherboard, RAM, video card, and an HD. Put it in the case of your choice, and tell me you spent more than $600, I am sure you will. Now, try and spend less than $600 on everything and tell me the parts you picked out will not make a top-of-the-line-pc. I am building two this week that have an Intel Pentium D 3.2ghz, 1 gb dual channel pc-3200, 120gb hard drive, DVD burner, all in a micro-atx case and they cost $450 a piece. If i wanted to I could add a video card, but they are for business use so that won’t be needed.
If you want you can spend $500 on a video card, $1,000 on a processor, $300 on a motherboard, $500 on HD’s, and $300 on RAM. If that is what you call top-of-the-line (most expensive), go compare it to a Mac that costs that much ($2,600) and see how they compare.
But seriously, don’t come on here and try and call me an idiot. I price out and build computers every week for people. Some spend more than $600, but most are happy without the $500 video card.
I get it now. You are one of the people who spent too much on a Dell. I knew this would happen with my comment.
You may know some stuff about computers, but the most you know and have ever told anyone is that Dell is the best you can get. That’s good, the economy of India thrives on people like you.
One day, you will get sick of dealing with the people from India, right around when your POS warranty expires and you will bring it to someone like me to have it fixed. They will charge you too much because you don’t know any better, and you will go back to telling everyone “This Dell is great, I just had it in the shop and it is working better than ever. I have had it for 6 years now and I think it will be good for a couple more.”. Seriously, try pricing out a computer just from parts and then call me an idiot. Idiot.
There’s PC heads and mac heads. I don’t understand why people bash other’s operating systems or computers- sounds like a giantic waste of time to me. Truth is, the only reason windows dominates the market is because of businesses, no store is going to run os x.
“Guess how easy it was to copy and paste your line into this box with my PC? Love the right mouse button.” …Oh, mac’s have the right click ability too, I actually just did it…I wish you people would at least try a mac before bashing it… Teej is completely right also.
This is how I feel about the subject:
Mac users are environmentalist. They drive hybrid cars or Volkswagens, appreciate abstract paintings, and are strict vegetarians. They don’t yell or shout, but rationalize problems while living in their homes painted pearl white. Meditation and yoga are their main focal points of the day after a warm coffee at Starbucks.
PC users live the environment. They drive muscle cars, choppers, and pickup trucks. They appreciate dog’s playing poker and a good medium rare steak. They yell and shout, and rationalize problems the way normal people do in their multiple colored rooms. Sports and sleeping are their main focal points of the day after an Ice Cold Beer from the local HOOTERS.
On another note, my kid beat up your iKid
Sorry Mac users, I know you can right-click if you need to. Some even use an aftermarket mouse like a logitech that have the right click feature built in.
Back to step 1. These commercials are completely bogus and Apple should be hit with a lawsuit for false advertisement. You do have update drivers on a Mac sometimes.
I’ve used pc’s with Windoze (zzzzzz). I only use Windoze to play games. I’ve used Macs before MacOS X (too pretty, too dumbed down). Happily, I can live without either of them. Long live Linux & Unix!
(btw, Mac OS X is based on Unix…)
I hate enviromentalist and i also hate macs but i love my muscle car and my pc!!!!!
Teej,
I’ve never purchased a Dell in my life. Nor have I purchased a computer off the shelf in the last 10 years. I build them from components as well.
Obviously, your idea of a “Top-of-the-Line” computer and mine differ completely.
I nearly laughed when you tried to suggest that the computer you spec’d out for $450 is top-of-the-line. You don’t even have a video card in it.
Yes, your silly little $450 machine (with an onboard video card I’m assuming) will be fine for running business applications and would be fine for most people, etc…but don’t insult me by suggesting it’s a top-end machine. The computers I’m building would crunch that thing into little pieces and spit it out for lunch.
Anyway, I’m not going to argue with you. You’re clearly over-emotional and under-educated when it comes to top-flight computer components.
Fly away small-time fool.
Thanks for saying (and showing) what every PC user thinks everytime some MACtwit starts spouting off like they have discovered something new. The only thing I would have done different is left the iPod out and shown the PC guy with a cheaper MP3 player that holds more data and cost less than an iPod.
I guess if you want to over pay for a computer and then be happy that you can finally run the programs the rest of the world uses, then a MAC is great. By the way, I can’t seem to find any MAC software at Best Buy. That means it must come loaded with everything you would evr want as long as you don’t want to play games.
At least it mentions the fact that Macs are for rich film school kids with no idea of how the real world works, who own computers just to play with their crappy aspiring films. Not to metion that i can very easily look at pictures or listen to music on a PC.
Maybe if Apple didnt have such a massive marketing budget their products wouldnt cost so much? Then again they can be as greedy as they want since its all proprietary 1st party software!
i find both the real mac ads and these faux “response” mac ads funny and smart. however, let’s focus on bigger issues than pc versus mac. how about peace versus war? petrol products versus renewable energy? love versus hate?
how petty are we to be sitting around arguing over such a shallow issue?
Whatever man, you called me an idiot first and now your claiming that I don’t know what I am doing, I am small-time, and emtional with no education. Like it takes that much more education to put together a machine with more expensive parts. The machines that yours could eat that I build for $450 a piece are what Dell is call top-of-the-line next to their even worse XPS systems. That is where I come off calling them that. I build them because that is what businesses want and that is who pays the bills. I have built expensive machines for gamers, but they are usually broke and can’t pay me what they are worth.
So, go back to your little world where you think you are the only person who can put together a computer with expensive parts and leave me alone. I am sure that you are too “Big-Time” to waste your time reading my petty comments anyway. I am going to go back to my “small-time” job where I actually get paid money for what I do.
Teej,
You seem like the kind of guy that buy’s a Honda Civic and calls it a Top-of-the-Line car. Sure, the Honda Civic is a great car, but it’s far from the best you can buy. Would you have to spend more money to get a better vehicle? Absolutely. But the price doesn’t make any difference to the quality of the vehicle. The best vehicle is still the best vehicle, regardless of the price.
Same goes with computers. Yes, the $600 GeForce 7950GX costs way more than the typical built-in video card on a motherboard — but it’s also WAY better.
I don’t have any issue with you building your computers. I never said that. I think you’re building good economical computers that probably serve their purpose well. I just took issue with you describing a $600 computer as a top-of-the-line machine — when CLEARLY it isn’t.
I’m just tired of people exaggerating to such extremes when they’re comparing Macs and PC’s.
Is it just me or this is kinda pointless. If its a joke, is a stupid one. If they’re trying to make Macs look bad, I can’t see how. It feels like made by some angry windows geek who felt offended by Mac ads.
There’s no such a thing as a perfect computer or OS, but Mac are faaaaar much better, easier to use and reliable. Just thin about the viruses issue for example.
I’m both a Mac and Windows user and i’d love to see someone making fun of those Ads to, but someone REALLY funny.
Mac: “I’m better.”
PC: “You suck.”
Some Mac users may get caught up in the notion that, like most minorities, they’re more exclusive clique is better than the majority, but PC users definitely get over defensive over any criticism and the arguements for PC are usually from minorities of the PC community.
For a lot of people, their computers are their hobbies. Like with the comments above, most defenders of PCs and critics of Macs are those who use Linux, or built their own PC, or took computer science in college and can literally make their own parts.
I don’t give a shit about that, because I have no interest in building my own compuer, and as I understand nearly every program I use is not available for Linux. I just want a computer to work, I don’t want it to get bogged down every 6-12 months, I don’t want to be restarting my machine daily. I don’t want sloppy uninstalls. I don’t want to have to download a new app for every little thing I want to do.
Its not that I don’t have good enough knowledge to get arround these things, they just make using computers a hassle. I use computers, but I generally don’t like them. Now take someone who has less knowledge or ability to get around problems, and a PC is a nightmare in comparison to a Mac.
When it comes down to it, they just have different uses. On my Mac, I have CS2, FCP, Motion, and the like. My iPod also works far better formatted for Mac (as to be expected). And iPod haters, find me a comparable 60gig player - doesn’t exist. My PC has been relegated to downloading or FTP or odd browsing or whatever hyped PC game before it gets uninstalled a week later.
Point is, there -is- no better or worse. For me, its obvious which is better, but that is specific to my specific needs and interests. No argument can change that, because I’ve tried both, and this configuration works best for me. Unless someone’s needs identically match mine, its not even relevant. That’s what few people seem to understand.
Who gives a crap if some people choose to use a Mac and some people choose to use a PC?
I can’t name a single thing that a Mac can do that a PC can’t, or vice-versa. Can you?
People get all emotional and defensive about this topic, but it’s ridiculous. It’s not like YOU invented the computer you’re using…or even had the slightest bit to do with it’s design or construction. Why should you feel any pride in the fact that you own a MAC or a PC? Anyone with a few thousand bucks can own exactly the same thing.
It doesn’t make you special. It doesn’t make you unique. It doesn’t make you better.
You need to realize that any “pride” you feel in the type of computer you own is merely the sad result of you being nothing but a pathetic pawn in some massive marketing game waged between mega-corporations.
You shouldn’t feel proud, you should feel manipulated. Everytime you say the words “Macs are better” or “PCs are better” you’re just repeating the subliminal slogans that big companies have put in your head with the hopes than you’ll keep chanting them to the masses. And like sheep, everyone seems to do it.
Bitch, I drive a Lincoln LS
Regardless, we both know what we are talking about, and I believe there is one thing we can agree on… Apple’s are over-priced. You pay nearly twice as muc for an Apple anything when compared to an equal counter-part.
Also, generally people that buy Apple computers know nothing about what they are getting, they just bought it because it just came out and it is better than their other yuppy friends Apple.
If Macs are so great… why are they being “engineered” to run windows?
And if PCs are so great, why are they losing sales to Mac?
The answer is simple (both questions): Personal preference.
The bottom line: They’re both great chipsets (because everything else is made in Taiwan by the same companies after that anyway), just one caught on faster than the other and has a greater draw in terms of compatibility. Saying one is better than the other comes from ignorance.. they’re exactly the same beyond the chipset… just different parts from the same companies… really. ANd most of the newer ones run with the same chipsets now anyway. So really the only difference is the software.
It’s like people that whine the they won’t buy foreign cars… just about all car parts come from the same place regardless of the “make and model”.
Macs don’t get viruses because the virus writers won’t waste time writing one for a Mac because that will get no notice in the media. The idea is to get noticed by compromising a lot of computers - not just a few.
So, Teej - where is the OS? Monitor? Keyboard and mouse? How about a video card (oh! Wait - no video card - you are using the one on the MB.) Do you charge them to build it, or is your time free? What is the total cost for this PC when you add an OS, monitor, keyboard and mouse AND you time?
Your PC without a monitor, keyboard, mouse, and no OS, without your charges for building the PC added on, and no local sales tax added - $450.
Dell B510 configured exactly like yours but with a 19″ analog LCD monitor, 128 MB video card, Windows Media Center OS, keyboard and mouse included - about $850. (no sales tax on this one either. And Dell hasn’t charged for shipping in ages - always seem to have free shipping lately.)
Reality is - I had a friend buy a Dell configured exactly like the one above, but with a 19″ digital LCD monitor rather than the analog one and he got it shipped with sales tax for $760. (It was a special for a week.)
Is Dell the best PC made? Hell no. But neither is the one you quote. Compare oranges to oranges if you want to make a comparison - include everything you need to make the PC you are building operational before you compare it to a turnkey Dell. But it seems to me since you sell PCs you have a vested interest in bad mouthing Dell.
The worst thing about Dell is the crapware they install on it. But that can be easily removed by someone that knows anything about PC’s.
OK…. IF you really want me to I can beat that. I generally don’t sell PC’s. I mostly build them for the company I work for. It saves them money. Give me an $850 budget and yes, I will throw in a $180 monitor, $30 worth of keyboard and mouse, and a $75 video card. I will also package it with $120 OEM version of WMC.
However, my original statement is that YOU CANNOT BUILD A MAC!!! Not without a lot of problems finding parts. Not without it costing you an assload more than just buying it from them. Point stated, now quit trying to dis-prove that I can build a computer better than Dell for less money. And yes, I hate Dell. Almost more than I hate Wal-Mart. And I hate call centers in India. They didn’t take my job, but they have taken my friends jobs.
Do you REALLY think you’re going to prove a point on here? It’s obvious that some people have turned this into an emotional debate.
Fact: PCs have the majority sway over the computer market right now. Fact: They run more games and, with the right parts, faster.
But realistically the Macs aren’t the real adversary for PCs.. Game consoles are!
So why do we care if someone buys a Mac?
One reason everyone overlooks on why Macs have been more stable over the years is the OS has been designed to run on a very limited platform. One or two MB, one or two processors. One or two video cards. etc. And very few options to add on or configure. The hardware is tightly controlled. That makes it a lot easier to build a stable system.
PC’s, OTOH, have been wide open with literally THOUSANDS of possible configurations. If the MAC OS had to deal with that variety, it would have the same problems PC’s have with Windows.
And the reason PC’s have outsold Macs, and continue to do so, is they are significantly cheaper to buy and to upgrade and to repair. This is entirely due to the competition between the hardware manufacturers.
I’ve never had my PC crash.. course I keep it behind both a physical and software firewall with up-to-date virus protection and I don’t surf Porn on it..
Am I just the only one that knows how to USE a PC the way it was intended?
If you’re having stability problems.. stop downloading from P2P and surfing porn.. as if that wasn’t obvious.
Teej,
I’m not sure you can build a homespun Mac. If it isn’t impossible, it’s damn near impossible to do.
I used to hate Dell as well. I built my own PC’s. But as I got older and, yes, lazier, and as pre-built PC’s started falling into the commodities pricing range, I realized I could buy a Dell and save not only time, but money. And I also lost the hassles of having to deal with multiple vendors for hardware problems that weren’t obviously one part’s fault. (ahh, the bad old days of conflicting drivers!)
If I was a tweaker, I’d never buy a pre-built PC. But I’m not and Dells work just fine once you get the crapware off of them. As for repair - well, I can also do that myself if I want to.
:)
But you can see my point - for the average person, buying a Dell is easier and in most cases either cheaper or about the same as buying one from a local builder. (They also get the feeling they are getting a more reliable manufacturer since the local guys go in and out of business so fast - at least where I live they do.)
Reed n Leern
I wasn’t talking recent - I was speaking historical. PC’s today are so much more stable than even 5 years ago. The BSD is almost a thing of history!
The Apple ads are misleading in they are mainly using information that would have been totally true 5-10 years ago, but today has pretty much fallen by the wayside. Fact is, Mac OS X has had some stability problems, there have been virus attacks (and like you said, regardless of the platform if you don’t do anything stupid you won’t get a virus) and they are not as far ahead of PC’s in the arts as they once were, and will probably be neck-and-neck within a few more years.
So why pay twice the money for a Mac? (Which wouldn’t even be around any more if Gates hadn’t loaned money to Jobs to keep the doors open a few years ago.)
:)
I know your point very well.
I just hate Dell, and Apple, and Gateway, and Emachines, and Best Buy, and any other corporation that sells computers.
They are basically turning them into a magazine. Just like a magazine they come with more trial offers and advertisements than any self-respecting individual can handle. The worst part: they are making more money off of those advertisements than they are off of the sale of the product. Then, they snub those fine Americans of jobs that they shipped off to India. They push the extended warranty on people that costs more for them to buy than it cost the company to build the machine. Every single one of those companies are the scum of the earth.
As far as saving time, it takes me more time to get a Dell or whatever ready for use than it takes me to build a machine from scratch. That is only because you need to format the hard drive and re-install the OS without their BS, which on it’s own can be a huge hassle.
Cheers for Rocco being drawn into an emotional debate.
Mac is Mac, PC is PC.
Who gives a shi|t?
And dude, if you buy a Dell you’ve got more money than sense.. even for an old lazy fart that isn’t into “stuff” that makes up the basis behind the arguement (basically indicating you had no response).
Go find some kid that has a wholeseller’s license and have them build you a system for the same price and get up to 3x the power and non-integration.
Or.. be uninformed and go buy your Dell.. and you complain about Mac people buying Macs for the same reason? Had to chuckle about that one.

Unlikely you can order parts (presuming they’re all from good stocks and there aren’t any problems with it requiring you to send it back and wait for another piece), assemble the system (easiest part), do full burn-in, update and set your bios, system format the HD and install your OS in the time it would take to walk down to the store and walk out with a PC.
You’re hating convenience… You pay for it y’know. You don’t have to. So why hate computer manufacturers? They make money on advertising.. which is why you have trial offers.. takes a lot to hit (delete) on there, huh?
I’d just go find some starving guy with a computer shop on a corner to order everything I want and stick him with the headache and have him take his meager $100-$200 cut and free myself up two weeks worth of waiting and working.
So, when was the last Dell you bought that you can speak so authoritively?
Before I took the plunge I did my research and it was NO cheaper to get one built than it was to buy the Dell configured EXACTLY the same way. In fact, it was more to roll my own.
Hate Dell all you want, but they assemble a decent piece of hardware, and this is someone that knows exactly what he is speaking about. I was probably building PC’s when you were still in didy’s.
And on the MAC/PC wars - I’m not emotionally involved. It’s logic. I like Macs. I like PC’s. I’ve worked on both and each has had it’s strong points and weak points. I get a huge chuckle over the people that take it so damned seriously!
As for the money comments - that was pure economics. PC’s have always been cheaper than Macs to buy and that is why corporate america (and then individuals) have bought more than Macs. If Apple could have sold Macs to the corporations for $100 less than an equivalent PC, Apple would be the dominant force today.
Well this has all be terribly interesting and educational. Carry on your endless debate about something you can no more affect than the tides.
Eventually you’re gonna realize nobody really cares. The market share is held by PCs today.. could shift to Macs tomorrow.
Know what?
Who cares? maybe that’s what needs to happen to get technology rolling again. We’ve been stuck with 3.2ghz and down for what? Like a year? Kick these suckers up to 6ghz! Intel and AMD have gotten lazy.. pipline upgrades and dual core.. ok. But give us more output! Hey if a Mac will give me decent software compatibility and integration and a much faster processor, graphics, etc.. hell.. I’d be persuaded to switch over too.
See, I have no love for either side, I just want to be able to do what truly taxes a PC and what a Mac doesn’t keep up with at this point (hopefully soon to change).
Gaming.
I hope that these Mac Sux and PC Drools comments are more parody then real, because I would hate to think all you guys are actually that crippled in your ability to deal with the world. The original ads were funny, but a bit pretentious, these were a dead on parody.
I suppose you already have a game console then.
:)
I agree - get the PC/Mac that does what you need it to do at the price you can afford. After that, whatever else it does is pretty meaningless.
The future is a matter of 64 bit processors and the software that will use them to full advantage. I guess we’ll see what happens, huh?
Reed n leern, next time read and learn what I said. “Format the the Dell hard drive and reinstall the OS WITHOUT the Dell crap.” That means you have to make your own image of the Dell resource CD and pull out the os aside from all the trial crap they give you. So, yes, it does take some time. When compared to what you get when you “Roll your own”, Dell is shit. I know because I have helped people buy them and fix them. I would NEVER buy one myself. You can come on here all you want and say what you want, but I know from experience that building them is not only easier, but you get a better machine.
Any time that you buy a computer from a company, if you at all care what you are getting, you research every part that is going into it. So, what is the difference between that and hand-picking your parts that all come with OEM warranties? You can get EXACTLY what you want… from the case to the processor to the motherboard to the dvd burner. Everything that is in there is exactly what you want. And, if you are like me, you buy everything ASUS that you can, because they are the best.
Also, is anyone else using the Beta version of IE7? It isn’t working too well with this site.
This “debate” is pretty stupid. And most of what is being said is false.
Macs don’t run games? Take a look here: http://www.apple.com/games/
Most popular games have Mac versions: BF2, WoW, Unreal, Doom, etc. So please stop with the “well well… they don’t have any games!”
PC’s are cheaper? Yes, if you buy the bargain basement machine from Dell at $700. Of course. For instance the Dell e1505 notebook starts at $699.When you configure it like a Macbook Pro($2000) without Dells promos it is about the same. Not to mention you don’t get things like the backlit keyboard, ambient light sensor, sudden motion, magsafe, etc etc.
Apple engineers computers. Dell plops some new stuff in the last years design.
So the Apple may cost a little more, but you are getting top grade hardware. A computer that is engineered with tons on nifty features and awesome software, Mac OS X, iLife, etc.
No right click? Ha. My mighty mouse right clicks just fine. I don’t have two buttons, but all i do is change a setting the right side of the mouse becomes the right click. Simple.
No software? There may not be millions of programs out there, or maybe not as many as a PC. But the major ones are there, Photoshop, Office, etc. There are also tons of well done apps out there at places like macupdate.com. To say you can’t be compatible with the rest of the world is crap. There is nothing I can not do on my Mac that the PC can. And I can take my office document on my USB pen drive, and put in into the Dell at school and print it just fine.
There are other arguments, but fact is if you did the slightest bit of research you would know the truth. Instead, most of you choose to bash something that you know nothing about.
This was typed on an 20″ iMac Core Duo.
Ha, that was funny! I’m a Mac guy all the way, but the “Mac” in those commercials does come off as a pretentious prick.
“Debates” like this just make me hate Macs AND PCs. Regardless of the pros and cons of the respective platforms. I decided therefore to enter this post on a Palm TX.
As for the advertisment, it deserved everything it got. I hate the stupid smugness that seeps from mac ads. And I hate the stupid “Diiingg… doo-doo-doo-doo” jingle that every ad for any PC using “an Intel Pentium Four Processor TM” has to play.
What the hell do they pay advertisers for anyway? It’s like they’re trying to sell their competitor’s products, and the only reason equilibrium is maintained is because both sides make everyone sick.
mac has been pushing the same thing year after year, it’s all about movies, photos, DVD, Graphics…etc.
What people don’t understand is that PC is Freedom, Freedom to choose what software you want to use, to make your movies, photos, DVD’s, and what hardware like, videocards you want for your graphic adventure. you own a MAC you only now “I” something you don’t know what’s out there!
when I go to the store, i see endless possibilities to choose from, when I go to the MAC store I see a small room with Nothing to choose from.
I can do anything and eveything with my PC, MAC you can’t do much! because you don’t have much!
That’s the Real Life! DEAL with it!
END!
I can do anything and eveything with my PC, MAC you can’t do much! because you don’t have much!
Can your PC run OS X? My Mac (lowercase, numbskull) can run Windows XP. So, what can I not do again with my Mac?
Sapo spews forth such nonsense as:
“I can do anything and eveything with my PC, MAC you can’t do much! because you don’t have much!”
Can your PC run OS X? My Mac (lowercase, numbskull) can run Windows XP. So, what can I not do again with my Mac?
And have you ever been to an Apple store? Never heard of a MAC store…
Some twit named Lobar says:
“Justin, you obviously don’t know what you’re talking about. Macs with intel chips work exactly the same as macs with PowerPC chips. It’s made no difference is how the software works.”
So why is there a distinction called “native” code? If it really doesn’t matter, why hasn’t Adobe been able to put out a native build of Photoshop? Hint, what chip the code runs on does matter.
Macs are for people who CREATE things.
PC’s are for people who PROCESS things.
macs just cant do everthing a pc can its that simple.

I can’t believe I just read all these comments. What a waste of time.
This is basically like arguing over favourite colours. You can give any number of reasons why your favourite is better than another, but ultimately what it comes down to is personal preference.
mirkrim> you hit the nail on the head.
There are personal prefernces to both.
Personally as a developer they work great for me giving me a functional front end laptop that can use Office, and give me a unix core.
well those ads didn’t really show what the PC can do instead of the Mac. Spreadsheets … please, Office comes on the Mac too, by Microsoft and it’s one of their profitable divisions.
I dunno. On one hand it’s sorta clever, but on the other, these movies are pretty poorly put together… I mean, if they bought a Macbook, they could have used the isight and gotten a bit better resolution and then edited just as well with iMovie as whatever they used.
My theory of the Mac vs. PC debates:
The typical PC guy is a nerd. The only time they get attention is when someone’s computer is broke. If people’s computers don’t break they don’t get any attention. They don’t want the computer’s to be easy to use, that’s when the hot girls are dependent on them.
The Mac guy hate’s going through the hassle of having the easy life on a Mac and goes to work not being able to find his god d@mn files because he doesn’t have spotlight (no google desktop search isn’t the same). His dream is to use his easy Mac everywhere.
Thoughts?…
If you liked that, you should check out this:

Same theme, different medium.
Heh,
that whole point about the software library is moot now, because Mac Intels can run Windows. (and faster than a PC!)
Wow. That is by far the stupidest thing I have ever seen. It was not funny at all. That’s like 2 minutes of my life I can never get back.
Honestly, I use both macs and pcs, and while it’s true that I like the mac environment better, I would certainly be willing to laugh at something making fun of macs provided it was actually funny. This was just stupid. I hope to God no one ever actually pays whoever made these clips to produce a real advertisement.
I could have done a better job on this.. using a Mac, or a PC… Hell, i could do a better job by splicing with my VCR.
I had heard this was actually worth watching.
:\
I just like Christian Finnegan telling off Nick Kroll. When Nick Kroll is funny on BWE, let me know.
i hate macs, but i think those commercials are pretty funny. this video was kind of gay.
“Justin, you obviously don’t know what you’re talking about. Macs with intel chips work exactly the same as macs with PowerPC chips. It’s made no difference is how the software works.”
Dude, you’re the stupid one. Justin is saying that Macs sucked before, and they still suck now, even with Intel processors. Moron.
By the way, aren’t these ads made with a Mac? It’s nice that non-elitist Mac users can have a laugh at themselves and show their Mac fanboy counterparts how silly their love of Apple can be.
(Meanwhile, Solaris users snicker in the background and observe the show.)
If it wasn’t for the USD400 million investment from Microsoft, Apple wouldn’t even exist today. So don’t be smug, be grateful!
Microsoft has changed the world by bringing affordable computing to everyone. Microsoft has tranformed not only businesses, the internet, but also help improve everyone’s life with great gaming choices on the PC, XBox and now XBox360.
What has Apple accomplished?
I love that macs have 2% market share. I just love feeling superior to everyone of my friends and family who have pcs that constantly break and dont work anymore haha. I have nothing against the PC itself…just the software that runs on it. Also one of the main reason that macs have 2% marketshare is that there is a lot of stupid people out there. Nope I dont want that number to change…Nope im not defending that number because I want it to stay that way and Yes I know that PCs are better for games and CAD….I just think its funny how people argue. I also love sitting here in front of my G5 quad with my dual 30 inch lcds while I multitask running 10 different programs open at once…Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Dreamweaver, Safari, iTunes…god the list goes on….lets see any pc out there run more then 2 programs at once before you get the blue screen of death lol.
Oh god. Oh dear god. All these comments. All these immature comments. I want my 5 minutes reading this immature crap of my life back! Macs and PC have their advantages. For my use, Macs are better for my lifestyle. I find both OS’s easy as I am a computer guy. But, to the guy who says a competitor MP3 player can hold more then the iPod. You’re talking about a 30 GB vs a 30 GB player right? Ever read the small text on the buttom? It says the music was encoded on 64 KBPS WMA for the competitor MP3 player. That is crappy sound quality. For the iPod, the small text reads that the music was encoded in 128 KBPS AAC. That is how the competitors get to advertise more song capacity then the iPod.
Quagmire you gotta remember one thing…there are so many more stupid people out there then smart people. Idiots will just believe that garbage about one player holding more then another…just let them walk around with their garbage sounding music while us ipod owners walk around with high quality songs. I just love feeling superior its great.
128 KBPS isn’t that great either. But, it sure does sound much better then 64 KBPS.
I’m an avid Mac user and I find this to the funniest thing ever!
The original ads themselves were pompous, and dare I say it, lame.
Mind you I also use a PC, and they’re both great
it seems no one so much as glanced at my comment, as they were all caught up in their frenzy of techincal jargon and ego padding.
I could care less about the adds. I used to use a PC until I found something that works better which happens to be a MAC. If you don’t mind hang ups and having to add software for everything you purchase which takes up space and having to re boot just to make stuff run right and you’re into playing games get a PC. If you are into video’s, music, photos, drawing and everything else except for playing games get a MAC.. And just remember. Once you go MAC you never go back…
PS. To each his own… Get what’s better for you and if your pockets are tight get a PC… They are cheaper… I still prefer something that works…
Macs are better in every single way for every single thing besides pointless crap like gaming.
Oh, and the original “Get a Mac” ads are ingenious. The best ads out there on TV right now. PC users just can’t handle the truth that they made the fatal decision to buy a POS Dell, HP, or IBM. Microsoft Windows sucks. Period. No questions asked.
Teej
Chill out. you are fighting over stuff that was never the point of any argument, and then backing your arguments up with irrelevant information. Yes you can build a cheep PC, but then you have to get the software, and deal with conflicts, and lock down the OS. It is just a pain, which I seem to always be involved in whenever a friend gets a new PC.
My time is worth the premium of an Apple system.
(General comment)
Macs a more expensive because they look good, work well, and come with hundreds or thousands of dollars worth of software (full versions), especially compared to the closet equivalents on Windows. They have a much longer useful life, and OS upgrades happen often enough to keep up with technology at a price worth the upgrade.
Last I checked XP (which is several years old) had a pro version out for $299 retail, now OSX Tiger (”pro” version, out for a year or so) is $129 or a family pack (5 installs) is $199 which happens to be what XP home goes for. Yes you can get the XP pro upgrade for $199, but that is still only for one install, and upgrades tend to not work well anyway.
And as for games:
Power Gamers use Power Computers. The G5 towers are more than adequate to game with, in fact, the XBox360 demo at E3 last year was running on a G5, so the power is there, just not the software, and you can’t declare failure for anything that was never given the chance in the first place. Wait for the Intel version of the Power Mac, and then there will be a way to really compare the systems.
the parody is ironic.
the concept or IRONY is the point.
they even give you contectual clues. the apple commercials that are being parodied are also ironic.
how ironic is it that no one has even bothered to understand that?
most all of you people have no clue what the fuck you’re talking about.
“cait says:
…let’s focus on bigger issues than pc versus mac. how about peace versus war? petrol products versus renewable energy? love versus hate?
how petty are we to be sitting around arguing over such a shallow issue?”
“cait says:
it seems
LOL!!! Luv it!!!
