About Second Life: Overview

Sunbelt Software in Second Life

Second Life is a 3D online digital world imagined, created and owned by its residents. Sunbelt Software has created a presence (Sunbelt Island) for our communities to meet, discuss computer related issues, attend events and lectures, have parties, or just have fun exploring this exciting new world.

We built several areas you might want to visit; Sunbelt's corporate headquarters has been rebuilt in Second Life, we have an auditorium, several fun games to play, a gathering area for parties, a partner pavilion and a product awareness island. We also created a Second Life 101 'primer' for people completely new to this new world, called the 'welcome area'.

Using the 'Join Second Life' option to the left, you can create an account which allows you to choose a first name and assigns you 'Sunbelter' as a last name, so that you can log into this interesting new world. After you have created your account, you need to download the Second life client (also called the 'viewer') and install that on your PC. The downloads for Windows, Mac and Linux are here: http://secondlife.com/community/downloads.php

After you have created your SL account, downloaded and installed the Second Life viewer, you can login to Second life with your chosen firstname, the Sunbelter last name, and the password you created. You will land directly into the Sunbelt Software welcome islet in Second Life.

If you are completely new to Second Life, we suggest you click on the green ball with "Click me to Teleport to the Welcome Area" Here are a few hints that allow you to move around. The four arrow keys are forward, back, left and right. You can also fly in Second Life. Press your PageUp key and hold it for a bit. Then you can move with the arrow keys. To get down... you got it. Press PageDown!
