Sunbelt Exchange Archiver: Your End-users Dream
The only change your user might notice would be the optional presence of a plug-in that blends into the toolbar in their MS Outlook, the rest is business as usual. A simple double-click brings up the email and attachments. Messages can be searched, edited, forwarded, moved to other folders or deleted. When an archived mail is deleted the link in MS Exchange is also removed. The email stays in the archive and can be retrieved and restored at any time by your end-user.

The user can start a Full-text search the moment an email is archived. The Full-text search can be activated via the MS Outlook toolbar. All available attachments are also searched for in the
archive. By using this powerful SEA feature, the user can initiate a Full-text search in attachments to also find emails that would have been otherwise irretrievably lost. This feature is of immense importance in legal cases.
The Administrator Can Lean Back & Relax
The target of SEA is to automate the archiving of both standard and special email formats with a simple configuration. The SEA Enterprise Manager takes care of the many archiving jobs with an intuitive, centralized console. Additional tools such as the PST File-importer and Media administrator reduce the daily backup of the MS Exchange Store by up to 80%.
SEA continuously checks which archiving rule should be applied to each email saved in the Exchange Store. SEA extracts an email which is ready to be archived from the Exchange Store and replaces it with a link. This link is stored in a relational database (ORACLE or MS-SQL Server) and serves as a reference to the new location in the archiving medium.

SEA Hardware Required:
- Required hardware depends on your plans to run your archive, retrieval, and HSM store on the same system or splitting these roles up across multiple boxes. As the load becomes distributed, the hardware requirements are going to change.
- The CPU speed and amount of memory would be based off of your answers to the point above. Additionally, this will depend on how many mailboxes you have since the impact of retrieval could vary tremendously between a site with 100 mailboxes versus a site with 5000. Following is some general information on what is needed for a single server SEA installation on a dedicated server.
- Recommended: Dual Xeon - 2 GB RAM

+ Is the archiving done based on 'journaling' or the user's mailbox?
The archive is based on a user's mailbox, not journaling. You can archive in a few different ways:
1) Manual archiving (done by the administrator and users who have the rights assigned to),
2) Scheduled archiving (handled by batch jobs), and
3) Direct archiving process (which enables email archiving upon arrival)
+ Does SEA use 'message stubs'?
Yes, The archived emails are replaced in the MS Exchange Store with a shortcut which is small in size The process is transparent, since the archived emails have a preview in MS Outlook.
+ Does SEA integrate with Active Directory?
Yes, you can normally manage AD and Exchange (e.g mailbox move)
The synchronization between the SEA Server and the MS Exchange Servers is
AD-based.
+ Can I set limits on the Archive per user mailbox?
Yes, Thresholds and Quotagroups can be assigned for users or groups in order to set limits either on their HSM storage or MS Exchange storage.
+ Can my users search archived emails via supported email clients?
Yes, The Outlook search can retrieve archived emails as well as it does for non archived ones. Additional to the Outlook search, the Fulltext search can be implemented for indexing archived emails.
+ Can users delete archived email, and is it removed from the archive?
The users can delete emails form the archive, but only if these rights are assigned to them by the administrator! The email will be removed from the archive with respect to the retention time that has been set over the HSM Store.
+ How about automated user enrollment (deleted user/mailbox?)
Emails that have been archived from mailboxes that are later on deleted
can be restored to different users.
+ Do I need client-side software to see the archived email?
No, if users require no rights over the archive, then their MS Outlook Clients will be able to load archived emails without the help of the SEA Add-in for MS Outlook.
+ Can I import my PST files?
YES! .pst files can be imported manually or automatically to SEA's store.
+ Is the archive process running -ON- my Exchange server(s)?
No, the archive process runs on the SEA Server. If no Direct Archive or OWA integration is required, the setup will run on the SEA Server only.
+ Does it work with OWA “basic” mode?
OWA can be configured on http and https channels as well. Different type of installation is done for Front-End, Back-End of Simple Server.
+ Can I compress email and attachments in the archive?
Yes, you can!
+ Do the emails and attachments look the same after I retrieve them?
Yes, there is no change in appearance, they look the same.
+ As an admin, can I restore mailboxes easily?
Yes, The Administrator can restore entire mailboxes by one click.
+ Can users search their attachments?
Yes, the fulltext search (after proper configuration) indexes the archived emails in body, header and attachments.
+ Does the Sarbanes-Oxley Certification Institute support vendor specific certification? In other words can products get Certified to be SOX compliant?

+ If I use SEA with will I be Compliant?
Yes, since the original messages are stored in their entirety and available immediately upon request, it is completely compliant with all rules promulgated by the SEC, NYSE and NASD, as well as SOX. More over, using the Direct Archiving method you are assured to be compliant as when email comes into the Exchange Store it is immediately archived. Even if the user has deleted their email, it is already stored in archive and can be easily resotred into an audit or legal mailbox.
+ What is 'Direct Archiving' what is new about it, and how does it work?
Direct Archiving is when the message is immediately archived when it hits the Exchange server, bypassing the need of journaling, its more efficient. Direct Archiving is done with an Information Store event sink, not MAPI.
+ Will it support a user’s ability to browse their archive messages using only OWA? Even if they do not use the regular Outlook program at all?
Yes, SEA has that option.
+ When you archive large mailboxes, after archiving will the size of the .edb be reduced or do I need to run a offline defrag on the database?
The actual .edb will be full of white space after archive so if you want to re-claim the space an offline defrag would be needed.
+ If something gets deleted In the archive or the archive data gets corrupted, what happens to the stub in OWA or Outlook?
There is a option to remove stubs for items that have been removed from the archive, otherwise the stub will be there but just not work.
+ Would I be able to install it on my Exchange server alongside the Ninja product? I have SQL server for the and a NAS server for archive media.
I’m trying to avoid buying another server.
Yes, that setup would work OK as long as the machine has enough resources left. For 100 mailboxes that are not too busy it should work fine.
+ If we are not using Journaling, and if the SEA server goes down for a period of time, how does it 'catch up' the missed mail while SEA was down?
Using Scheduled archiving and direct archive queues. Also, it is possible to have more than one server for redundancy.
+ If we search something with full text, is there a way to export that to an attorney, in PST format from SEA?
Yes, this is built into the product to be able to export the results to a PST file if needed or a different mailbox or even the original.
