Keep in mind that if you take out the US dollar fluctuations the number gets more like 4.5%. They also predicted services will be up 9.4% and software up 10%. Gartner wizards also said that open source software, SaaS, the new 'cloud computing' and Web 2.0 are creating massive change to the software market. These changes are influencing growth patters of several markets as organizations replace obsolete systems with per-use services. Spending on hardware is also to be up 7%, mainly due to sales of laptops and revenues in Europe and Asia-Pac.
