Sunbelt Software has recently (November 2008) done extensive internal research into the performance and resource utilization of the most popular commercial Enterprise Antivirus products on the market. The new charts show the results of this comparison. The test configuration and the specific versions of the software products are listed at the end. The tests were done as objectively as possible and all products in this comparison were purchased on the retail market, or downloaded as evaluation/trial copies shortly before the test. Anyone can repeat these tests and see the results for themselves. The numbers tell the story. VIPRE uses half of the resources of the competition. We took the average CPU % utilization of the other products during a scan and VIPRE used 53% CPU compared to the average.
